Here’s a layout of the DDD-E Model for my project:

Decide: I wanted to come up with a website that would help teachers, parents, and students. I consulted a good friend of mine to teach me how to design a website and add or delete features. I came up with teachermisha.com.

The established goal of the project is designing a teaching website for kindergarten dealing with members of the service community, i.e., Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Mail Carriers, etc. This website is in alignment with K.3 standards, students will match simple descriptions of work that people do and the names of related jobs at the school, in the local community, and from historical accounts with their parents or facilitators' help.

Design: I designed a website entitled teachermisha.com. The website is work-in-progress somewhat continually currently under development. Nonlinear features are offered by clicking on to specific sites for further information on a topic. It’s very time consuming, however rewarding to see progress. I learned how to include animation, sounds, etc. by using various design tools.

Develop: Here is a list of the steps and questions I took and have had thus far:

  • First, get domain name (teachermisha.com)
  • Then get hosting (where the website resides)
  • Design work - Initial Questions:
  • What is the overall approach to site?
  • How to make it accessible to kids?
  • How many pages/items to cover?
  • Other resources?
  • Color choices (bright, primary colors)?
  • Graphic choices (fun graphics for kids)?
  • What content is needed?
  • Links to other resources?
  • Design tools - what’s needed:
  • Adobe GoLive CS2 (HTML editor)
  • Adobe Photoshop 7.0 (image editor)
  • Image Ready (animated gif editor)
  • Glanda 2005 (Flash banners and menu editor)
  • FTP Voyager 12.0 (FTP client - for uploading site)
  • Design prototype page that will be used as template for other pages.
  • Upload prototype, get feedback from friends, family, etc.
  • Redesign some elements based on feedback
  • Lock Home page - use as template.
  • Create other pages and fill in content.

Evaluate: Thus far, I am very excited with how everything is turning out! I have played with the buttons and am constantly changing things such as animation on my site. I can not give an end evaluation because the project is under way. In addition, I am working on developing an assessment which would accurately measure my student’s level of comprehension
